… and now Coming Back from a Trip to Greenland, from a Whaling Trip …
What happens when the church tower, which has always stood in the same place for several centuries, leaves its location and suddenly reappears in the museum? A moment of dissolution and change that runs through the exhibition in the Project Room at Museion in Bolzano. The Jenesien church tower, which is visible from the exhibition space (Der Turm, 2012, lacquered wood, 450 × 190 × 190 cm) leaves its usual location and a swarm of bees in peak form dissolves because the queen disappears for inexplicable reasons. Workers, drones and larvae die. Only a few survive and fly on (Bienenschwarm, 2012, ink, felt pen on paper, 220 × 114 cm).
Suddenly and unexpectedly, a tethered horse stands in the middle of the forest and bleeds from its mouth (Pferd, 2013, ink, felt pen on paper, 200 × 114 cm).
The insects kept in a box, such as dragonflies, beetles, bumblebees, bees ... are found again in the small-format drawings and in turn show decay in a fragile interplay (es fällt, installation with a casket and insects stored in it, 35 drawings of different sizes, felt pen and ink on paper, 2012).
… und nun von einer Grönlandsfahrt, von einem Walfischfange zurückkäme … (Goethe 1829) an exhibition at Museion Bolzen curated by Frida Carazzato.
